Dear Colleagues, during the last weeks we have made first experiences downloading contributions for the IERS Combination Pilot Project (CPP). The archive currently comprises only "intra-technique" solutions from the Technique Centers (IVS, IGS, IDS) or from specific institutions (NCL: SLR, GPS - IGN/JPL: DORIS). Since the various solutions are not only prepared for the IERS but also for the technique services all file names are in accordance with the naming conventions of the respective service. Thus, we have to rename the downloaded files according to the CPP naming conventions. This will be done automatically in the future. Initially we planned to archive all files with all their past versions. However, this is not being done for the original files, e.g. at the CDDIS data center. Thus, we decided to re-initialize the IERS data archive, i.e. we will only provide the latest versions of the files but no past versions. Now the file names will be fully consistent with the CPP file naming conventions, where the "version indicator" (i.e. "_XX" in "CCCYYDDDTN_XX.snx.Z") should be used only for alternative solutions/files but not for new versions of an old file. In summary we propose the following steps: 1. Re-initialization of the IERS data archive with respect to the files of the CPP (older version of the same file won't be archived any longer). 2. Preparing a Web-page explaining the schemes used to rename the original files with respect to the CPP naming conventions and showing the original location (i.e. ftp-archive) of the files. 3. Preparing a Web-page showing the newest files with respect to the CPP in the IERS data archive; this page will be dynamically build each time it is called. 4. Preparing a Web-page containing all e-mails from the CPP e-mail exploder. Please let us know, whether there are any suggestions or objectives with respect to these steps. Otherwise we will move to the new processing scheme on Friday, 23 July. At that time all file downloads and the renaming of the files will be done automatically. All necessary information with respect to the above steps will be sent through this e-mail exploder.
