The new products provide small observed corrections to the improved precession/nutation theory (IAU2000A). This theory provides a more accurate representation of the motion of the Celestial Intermediate Pole in the International Celestial Reference System than the previous IAU model. This theory together with the published corrections provides the most accurate representation of the motion of the pole in space. The X, Y representation of this motion is now consistent with the more rigorous definitions of the procedure to transform between the International Celestial Reference System and the International Terrestrial Reference System (ITRS) that is required to match the current observational procedures and to take advantage of the improved precision available from the use of these techniques.
