How does the ICRS differ from the FK5 system?

The axes of the ICRS are kinematically aligned with distant (extragalactic) objects. The ICRS is independent of epoch, equator, ecliptic, and equinox. The FK5 system is dynamically aligned using the mean equator and ecliptic of J2000.0.
