Session 2
Technique-Specific Biases and Effects at Co-Location Sites/Satellites
chaired by Gendt G.
co-chaired by Nothnagel A., Pavlis E., Lemoine F., Van Dam T., Appleby G.

Description:Co-location sites/satellites are the only points, where the consistency of and systematic biases between individual techniques can be assessed.

List of technique-specific biases for all techniques and their reduction/elimination/parameterization. Every technique-specific bias causes problems in the combination (if not removed or estimated).

Differences at co-location sites/satellites show the technique-specific biases. A note concerning the local ties: at the UAW workshop we do not want to consider the terrestrial surveying aspects and problems.

Co-location on the ground and on the satellites can be used.

Systematic biases may be due to antenna effects (phase center variations, multipath, thermal expansion, gravitational sag, calibrations, ...).

Systematic biases affect site coordinates and velocities, site coordinate time series, but also other parameters.

Similar to local ties also troposphere local ties can be considered, i.e. systematic differences in troposphere parameters from VLBI, GNSS, and DORIS.

Systematic differences in Earth rotation parameters show reference frame inconsistencies.

Finally, we should look at systematic effects in orbits from different techniques (GNSS orbits from microwave and SLR observations, JASON orbits from DORIS, GPS, SLR or altimetry observations, ...).
Goals:Compose a list as complete as possible of all the technique-specific biases and their size and impact

Understand the systematic biases between the techniques

Discuss ways to reduce, minimize or parameterize technique-specific biases

GGOS Portal and Meta Data Flow
chaired by Richter B.
co-chaired by Niell A., Noll C., Neilan R., Soudarin L., Wilmes H.

Description:To locate data at data centers, especially on the GGOS level, we need a consistent set of meta data for all data and products of the individual services.

Definition of common meta data standards.

List of institutions, analysis centers, data centers, individuals, ... involved in the GGOS endeavor should be contained in a consistent data base.

List of products and their descriptions.
